About — Andrew Ehlert

Ten years in organic search. The last three at the AI frontier.

I’ve spent a decade making brands visible in Google — and the past three years figuring out what makes them visible in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and AI Overviews. Same discipline. New machine.

01 — The short version

I’m a GEO consultant based in Raleigh, North Carolina. I help brands get recommended by AI engines — and ranked by the search engines those AI engines still learn from.

The numbers that matter: $50,000,000+ in organic revenue generated for clients. Multiple brands scaled from five-figure to seven-figure monthly organic sessions. And in Q1 2026, a DTC client’s AI citation footprint grown from ~5,400 to ~15,800 tracked citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews — correlating with +162% non-branded organic traffic growth.

02 — The arc

I started in-house: employee #4 and first marketing hire at Carpe, a hyper-growth DTC brand, building the organic acquisition stack from zero. Then agency-side at Go Fish Digital, running SEO programs for Fortune 500 clients and growth-stage startups — GEICO, Staples, Airbnb, WeedMaps, Academy Sports. Then in-house again as SEO Manager at Wild Earth, where I took organic traffic from 75K to 750K+ monthly visitors and lifted organic revenue over 900%.

Since 2021 I’ve run my own practice as a fractional SEO/GEO lead for high-growth brands. Selected engagements: Spot & Tango, Ollie, The Farmer’s Dog, Chewy, Parsley Health, Vetnique, Wild Earth, NetNut, Super Speciosa, Kratom Country, and Lucky Elk.

Somewhere in there, search changed. Buyers stopped clicking ten blue links and started asking AI engines for a shortlist. I followed the citations — and found that almost nobody was managing the layer that decides them.

03 — Why GEO

GEO isn’t a replacement for SEO — it’s what SEO becomes when the search result is an answer instead of a list. AI engines recommend the brands they find cited in sources they trust: category listicles, industry publications, structured comparisons, consistent entity data. Rankings still matter, because AI engines cite what ranks. I optimize the whole surface.

That includes the hard categories. I’ve built visibility in some of the most restricted, adversarial niches in search — including taking a THC-A brand to #1 in a space where mainstream channels are closed and black-hat competition is the default. When advertising is off the table, organic and AI visibility are the growth channel. That’s where this work matters most.

04 — The tooling

I don’t rent my measurement. I designed and built a proprietary GEO tracking platform that measures LLM citations, share of voice, and prompt-level coverage across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews — deployed on every client engagement. Alongside it: agentic AI workflows that codify audits, content production, and AI-readiness scoring into repeatable systems.

That platform powers the Citation Source Index — the dataset behind the research I publish and the targeting behind every placement I build.
